"Viva!" A Celebration of Life
John Curtin College of the Arts students have submitted 10 artworks into one of the most prestigious events in the Visual Arts annual program in schools.
This year students have been invited to look for the joy and positive aspects of the world we share with all living creatures.
The Cathedral Art Awards is one of the few forums where talented art students across all education sectors have their work displayed professionally and judged by professional artists.

Delve into the world of choreography as our Years 8 to 11 Dance and Ballet students explore their imaginations with an engaging performance based on the theme of puppets, mask and mime.
Choreography night allows students to investigate and interpret their own dance ideas through movement, music, design and production.

Central TAFE Art Gallery: 12 Aberdeen St, Perth
Join our Years 8 to 12 Dance and Ballet students for an enchanting evening as they present Tchaikovsky's much loved classic.
The Nutcracker is a wonderful fairytale ballet about a young girl who receives a Nutcracker doll as a gift and dreams herself into a magical world of adventure, danger and merriment. The students give new energy to this ballet as contemporary choreography is integrated into the traditional classical production.
Be it the evil Mouse King or the majestic Sugar Plum Fairy, our dancers have created a fantastical wonderland of characters for the whole family to enjoy.

Focusing on Australian drama, our Gifted and Talented Year 10 Drama students transform into inspiring and believable characters across a range of plays.
Working in groups, the students explore a selected scene with a professional actor or theatre director.

Students will collaborate with Ian to create a unique theatre experience.
On the heels of last year's sell out season of the original musical, Knock 'em Dead, this year's exclusive performance promises to be a delight for audiences. Join our talented music theatre performers as they bring Ian's characters to life in a music theatre spectacular.

Our finest Ballet and Dance students present a visually stunning performance in this classic and romantic ballet.
Featuring guest artists from industry, and directed by former West Australian and Australian ballet dancer, Louise Chalwell, this performance stages two acts from the full ballet-the prologue and Act III.
Be prepared to be swept away by its magic.

Years 8 to 12 Music students showcased music from around the world with an exciting cross section of jazz, contemporary and classical music.
The evening provided a smorgasbord of music delights with performances by the concert and jazz bands: string, classical guitar, contemporary guitar, percussion and vocal ensembles; and instrumental and vocal soloists.

Our talented and creative male performers entertained audiences with their dance and drama improvisation. These students are part of a successful and popular program that gives them the opportunity to work within the Arts and develop broader experiences.

"In the beginning...there was a puppet, then there were two. They multiplied and created a family of
puppets. This family produced more families. These families became communities and these communities created larger communities until...there was only one big community of puppets!"
This engaging performance by our Year 8 to 12 Ballet and Dance students explored the values of peace and mutual understanding between people regardless of race, religion and cultural differences. It was based on the theme behind the Million Puppet Project, which uses dance as the vehicle to bring cultures together.

Year 8 to 12 Music Theatre students presented a tribute to Broadway. This sound and sight caberet spectacular showcased pivotal Broadway musicals.

Year 12 Perspectives showcases original Year 12 Art and Art and Design work from 2007 at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. Works are chosen through a selection process to ensure the very best are included and some of our graduates' works are on display.

Are you trapped or defined by an image you make yourself? What do you tell yourself and what do you reveal?
This contemporary exploration of the self performed by The Project Company was inspired by Sidney Nolan's self portrait, Myself. The work looked at what you put forward and what you hide away.

A contemporary retelling of an age old tale, Years 10, 11 and 12 Drama students presented one of William Shakespeare's best known tragedies. Macbeth is a classic tale of ambition and betrayal, superstition and murder. Loosely based on the historical account of Kind Macbeth of Scotland, it describes an archetypal tale of the dangers that come from the lust for power and betrayal of friends.

An evening of talent, excitement and energy as Year 12 Drama students took to the stage in short works of similar themes. Guest directors from industry worked with Year 12 students to create this repertoire of diverse works.
2 - 9 April 2008
Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts students exhibited 50 puppets at the Perth Concert Hall as part of the worldwide Million Puppet Project. The project aimed to be part of a new Guinness World Record - The World's Largest Puppet Display.
