Dear Parents and Caregivers
As a college we are remaining positive and engaged in these current circumstances.
We are being proactive and adaptive in our strategic planning to minimise any disruption to your child’s education.
There are currently no students or members of our school community who have been identified with COVID-19. As an extra precaution we have also limited all outside members of the community coming into the school. Our college continues to promote correct hygiene for all staff and students.
Our school environment remains a safe place for students and staff.
Our actions and response to the COVID 19 virus are based on advice from the Department of Education, Department of Health and Federal Government and are underpinned by strategic planning with due diligence and duty of care for our students and staff.
One of the great challenges for all schools in this period is to maintain our quality of teaching. As a school community we continually adjust our approach to best meet the rapidly changing conditions. Families who are self isolating will be able to access some limited resources through our Connect learning platform. Teachers will not be developing individual daily lessons for students who are away from school.
Many of our students use public transport to come to school. We ask that all parents reinforce with their child the importance of adopting good hygiene and personal care practices when using public transport. Our staff will be working with the public transport authorities to ensure that they are providing safe opportunities for student travel.
Students and families who are part of the John Curtin community highly value the kindness and consideration that they share with each other. In these uncertain times there have been many examples of children and adults displaying acts of kindness. I encourage all of you to continue to show strength and resilience while facing these difficult challenges, today and into the future.
