Gavin Bradshaw is the Associate Principal of Connection and Pathways. Gavin has spent 27 of his 31 teaching years at the College, being involved in Student Services as a Year Coordinator or Head of Student Services. Gavin coordinates the College Engagement team in all planning and operations to fulfil our vision of monitoring and progressing each student’s academic, social and emotional development. Gavin is passionate about creating new, positive experiences to meet the educational and emotional needs of students at the College.

As an initiative in this role, Gavin is exploring opportunities for student voice in teaching and learning. Gavin believes it is essential for students to act as partners in their learning to improve educational outcomes and is working with staff to incorporate a tool called the Pivot Student Perception Survey (SPS) to accomplish this. The SPS identifies areas of strength and growth based on student feedback. It is a safe tool for teacher self-reflection and presents the feedback in a way that engages with staff. It has been great to see staff making subtle changes to how they teach based on student feedback.

Gavin’s personal values align with those of the College and he believes that is why he has stayed at John Curtin for 27 years. Gavin approaches students with genuine care and understanding, always striving to maintain a safe and inclusive environment that supports physical and mental wellness.

Gavin is passionate about his work and believes that “it is the students that make the College an amazing place to work”.
