Please note an Expression of Interest form must be completed by the student and parent upon selecting and submitting the subject selection forms for Year 9 in Year 8. The completed expression of interest form is not a confirmation of your child being accepted into the FOH course.

**Students may not commence this course in Year 10, 11 or 12.

Qualification Description

This is a nationally recognised qualification that provides students with a realistic understanding of the world of work in the Theatre Industry, in particular front of house.

Students will be expected to participate as Front of House Ushers at College performances and productions. Therefore students are required to be available for weekly night and weekend attendance. A minimum of 55 Ushering duty hours over the length of the course is a compulsory requirement. In Year Nine students attend face to face classes two periods a week for Semester One. From Semester Two onwards students will be required to attend workshops, formal classes, complete online learning and self-directed work at home.

Students will continue with their ushering duties into Year 10, 11 and 12 as well as playing important role models in mentoring the younger FOH students. FOH students are expected to complete all theoretical components.

* Students will be required to purchase the FOH uniform in Year 9 from the College uniform shop.

Assessment

The qualification involves learners completing ten units of competency over the four years. These units comprise of core and elective units. The learner must be deemed competent in all ten competencies to achieve the qualification.

Assessment tasks may include but not limited to work books, journals, self- reflections, online assessment tasks, role plays, ushering performance appraisals and theoretical knowledge tasks.

The qualification certificate will be issued by John Curtin College of the Arts at the completion of Year 12.

Please note: Media, Production and Front of House now come under the same certificate qualification of Creative Industries therefore students who would like to do more than one context must consult with Mr. Wayne Sibson (Deputy Principal)
